Over the last three decades, thousands of wind turbines of all sizes have been installed worldwide. The majority of the wind turbines have been good investments, but as with many other technologies, components for repairs and maintenance are decreasing rapidly. The turbines are often in good mechanical shape but out of warranty from the OEM. These factors in combination with unplanned service costs and new demands have until now made it more feasible to stop the turbines, repower the site with new larger turbines or simply remove them.
By retrofitting older turbines with improved control automation technologies there is now a secure, cost effective and simple way of extending older turbines’ productive life span and keeping them running on site or repowering them at more suitable locations. MiCMS Condition Monitoring
With the MiCMS Condition Monitoring System, you can perform predictive maintenance and avoid unplanned costs. The MiCMS solution helps you reduce the overall maintenance costs, while at the same time improve the reliability and availability of your turbine.
MiCMS consists of the remotely operated controller and our SCADA system, Gateway. With up to 16 IEPE type accelerometers strategically placed on the drive train, MiCMS monitors the drive train components, such as the gearbox, generator, main bearings as well as the tower.
An updated predictive maintenance strategy, using state-of-the-art sensors and tests, minimizes unplanned wind turbine outages and maximizes wind turbine energy output and revenue generation.
